About Us
Serving The Greater St. Louis Area Since 1856.

The Greater St. Louis Dental Society is a component of the Missouri Dental Association and American Dental Association. Our purpose is to serve the dental needs of St. Louis by promoting public health through service and education. The Greater St. Louis Dental Society is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date industry information to the dental community it serves.

Throughout the year the Dental Society supports a Speaker's Bureau whose members teach children and adults about the importance of dental hygiene. During February, National Children's Dental Health Month, the Dental Society coordinates and implements an annual program at the St. Louis Science Center that further promotes oral health education.

The Dental Health Theatre, located in Laclede's Landing, is a wonderful teaching tool for dental health in the community. The Theatre boasts a "theatre-in-the-round" of 16, three-foot high fiberglass teeth that are used to teach children about teeth; how they help with eating and the proper techniques for brushing. They have been educating children in the metropolitan area of St. Louis since 1977 and many of our members play an important role in the Dental Health Theatre.

The Give Kids a Smile program has been very successful as an access to care for the underserved children of St. Louis, Missouri. Through two-day clinics held twice each year, GKAS, with the help of the Greater St. Louis Dental Society, serves approximately 1200 kids. They also help children with more difficult dental problems through their Smile Factories, which are also supported by members of the GSLDS.

The Greater St. Louis Dental Society (GSLDS), with cooperative funding from Delta Dental Plans of Missouri, offers a scholarship for third and fourth year dental students at accredited Dental Schools. For the each academic year, GSLDS intends to award one $1500 scholarship to assist an eligible Missouri resident in completing his or her dental education. To complete an application, click here.
